Search Help
Back to the search page...

You can enter any search criteria you want in the keywords field. You can even enter a question if you want. The search program will try to pick out the relevant words and search the archive database by subject. If you want to search through the body of posts as well check the "Search Body Too" checkbox. By far, the best way to search is to enter only the keywords that are relevant. One thing to note is that partial words can be searched on. If you want to search for a topic dealing with dependencies, but also want to see posts that use the singular, dependency, then just search for "dependenc".

One way to determine what the search program thinks is important is to do a search and examine the results. At the top of the page you will see a line that tells you what was searched for. Any irrelevant words will have been stripped out. You can avoid those words in the future.

You can also insert boolean keywords to find tune your search. The three boolean keywords that are accepted are AND, NOT, and OR. You can also use + for AND, and - for NOT. Sorry, for now parentheses for grouping is not allowed.

Example Searches:
Natural language:
How can I run servers alive as a service?

Keyword:
servers alive service

Booleans:
servers AND alive AND service NOT newbie
servers + alive + service - newbie (don't put your +'s and -'s right next to the following keyword)
